Documents Required for Proof of Residence (POR) |
Your address on file with GCA must always be confirmed with a Proof of Residence in the name of the Legal Guardian.
To be classified as a resident, your student must reside with you (their parent, legal custodian, or legal guardian) within the state of Georgia, USA. A resident is defined as an individual who is legally domiciled within the state of Georgia, USA and who, on any given school day, is likely to be at, and routinely sleep overnight at, the stated address provided in this enrollment application.
- If the proof of residence is not in the Legal Guardian's name, an Affidavit of Residence form is needed in addition to any Proof of Residence document(s) listed below. Use this link for the Affidavit of Residence form.

Acceptable Documents
One (1) document required if choosing from this list

Lease agreement (including address, lease period, & signature pages where both parties have signed (by wet signature or Authenticated ESignature), must be current*
- A month-to-month lease must be accompanied by a supplemental document.

Utility or service bill, current within 60 days (Submit full page view of document, NOT just the payment/mailing stub)
- Utility bills are those showing service to the home: gas, electric, water, internet, cable, sewage/trash (Submit full page view of document, NOT just the payment/mailing stub)
- Renter's insurance, within the current year
- Housing Authority letter, within the current year
- Military Placement letter
- Letter of Occupancy provided by a religious organization
- Current DFCS form letter within 60 days
Supplemental Documents
Two (2) documents required if choosing from this list
- Month to month lease (lease with no lease term dates) or recently expired lease
- Mortgage Statement, current within 30 days
- Auto renewal registration or tag receipt, current within one (1) year
- Earning Summary, current within 30 days
- If you are currently moving: USPS Change of Address Confirmation, current within 30 days, home closing statement within 30 days, or application for utility service within 60 days
Unacceptable Documents
Application or Change of Address will be denied if choosing from this list
Handwritten or informally prepared lease agreements
Unsigned or incomplete lease agreements
Lease agreements with typed names in place of required signatures
Closed envelope
Driver's License
Auto or home insurance record
Property or personal tax records
House Deed
Cell phone bill
Credit card statement
Medical bill statement
Addressed advertisement
Personalized addressed envelope or letter
Documents recording an out-of-state address
Any bank statement (Checking / Savings Statement)

Utility or service bill within 60 days (Includes Name, Service Address and Date)
Renters Insurance, within the current year (Includes insured person's name, address, policy name and type, and policy date)
DFCS Benefits Letter showing all required information

USPS Change of Address Confirmation, current within 30 days (Includes Name, New Georgia Address, Date, and document type)
Examples of Unacceptable Documents - Application or Change of Address will be denied if choosing from this list
