Chromebook Tips: Remove the Account from a Chromebook |
From time to time it may be necessary to remove an account from a Chromebook. This will allow the user to log in to the Chromebook with a GCA @georgiacyber.org email address from the beginning. This can be needed when a password reset has been done or if another GCA user needs to use the Chromebook. Only an account managed by @georgiacyber.org can log into a GCA Chromebook.
To remove the account from a Chromebook, you must be at the original login screen with the student's name and the blank password field. If you already see that on screen, please go to Step 3.
1. Click on the wifi, battery, and clock icon in the lower right corner of the Chromebook.
2. In the pop-up that appears, choose to Sign out.
3. When the login page appears, instead of entering the password to log back in, click on the down arrow to the right of the student name and choose Remove account.
4. Confirm your choice to remove the account. **Please note that all documents stored in the Google Drive of the account are safe and will not be deleted. The warning refers to local downloads. If you wish to keep any local downloads, you will need to move them into your Google Drive.**
You will see a black screen for a few moments. Be patient.
5. The next new login screen will appear. Type in the GCA email address and click Next.
6. Type in the password and click Next.
7. You may be asked to connect to your wifi. Please do so.
8. Open the Chrome browser and you are now in your GCA Google account.
9. A Champion Portal page will automatically load. Use the buttons here to access your GCA programs. You can also see access to Clever, Canvas, and Infinite Campus from the GCA Bookmarks folder.
