Canvas Showing the Wrong Time 

When Canvas assignment due dates or calendar events show the wrong time by a few hours, it is usually because the time settings on Canvas, your web browser, or your computer do not match.

What Makes the Time Show in Canvas?

  • Canvas Time Zone: This controls how assignment due dates and course events appear in Canvas.
  • Computer Clock: Your computer's clock tells your web browser what time it is.

Step 1: Check the Time on a Windows Computer

  1. Type Settings in the Windows search bar and open Settings.
  2. Click Time & Language, then select Date & Time.
  3. Turn Set time automatically to On.
  4. Turn Set time zone automatically to On. If needed, choose your time zone from the Time zone list.
  5. Under Additional settings, click Sync now to update your computer's clock.
  6. If the time is still wrong, you may need to turn off the automatic settings and set the correct time yourself (it is preferred to keep the Automatic time settings on).

Step 2: Clear Your Browser's Cache and Cookies

  1. Clear your browser's cache and cookies for ALL TIME.
  2. Close and reopen your browser, then check Canvas times again.
