Below are some common FAQs regarding Class. Each answer is linked to further helpful articles in the Student & Family Help Center.
**For your attendance to be recorded, you must follow the steps below to go to Class. Never use an old link.**
On some days with a different schedule, such as MAP Testing days or Enhanced Learning Days (ELD), Today's Live Classes may direct you to your Canvas Calendar. You should always rely on Today's Live Classes.
Choose Join Class
Next you will see your Class tab in that course and a blue Launch button. Choose Launch.
Best practices for Class to work smoothly:
- All GCA students must use a Chrome browser (this is automatic for a GCA issued Chromebook)
- Check that your Chrome browser version is updated
- Clear the cache and cookies, following these exact instructions.
- If you fail to join Class on the first attempt, close the tab and immediately try again from Canvas.
- If you are missing any function in the Class such as your mic or video icon, or you cannot see the teacher's screen share or video, please refresh the Class tab.
- Keep only one Chrome window open. Use your split screen key on the Chromebook to see all Desks, apps, and browser windows that you have open. Close everything except the one you are using to join the Class.
OR
- Limit the open tabs in your Chrome browser to just the few you need.
- NEVER bookmark a Class link to go there later. Instead, ALWAYS go back to Canvas and use the button for Today's Live Classes, click Join Class, and then choose Launch.

How do I go to my Class on a GCA Chromebook?
On the Champion Portal page, choose Canvas.
From the Canvas Dashboard or Calendar, choose the button for Today's Live Classes. Choose the Join Class button at the right time for each Class period.
Click on the blue Launch button to get into your Class.
What if I'm using a personal computer?
To see the Champion Portal page on a personal computer, you must use a Chrome browser, log into your GCA Google account, and sync it.
Choose Canvas from the Champion Portal page.
From the Canvas Dashboard or Calendar, choose the button for Today's Live Classes. Choose the Join Class button at the right time for each Class period.
Click on the blue Launch button to get into your Class.
You will see the following screen in a new tab and you must choose only the following options.
1) Cancel, and
2) Launch Class for Web
**ALL GCA students join from the Web.**
