Class on a Smartphone **These instructions are NOT for students.** |
This information is only for Legal Guardians, Learning Coaches, and Parents.
**Students join Class from a computer or Chromebook.**
Click on the session link sent to you. It will open in a browser. Depending on the settings of your phone, you may need to copy and paste the link into a browser.
Choose Join on the Web. You may be asked to enter your name. If you are in a waiting room, please wait for the host to let you in.
Once you are in the Class, choose Continue to connect to Audio. If you do not choose Continue, you will not be able to hear audio. You may be prompted to allow the use of your microphone. Please choose Allow.
When you first enter the Class, you may be unverified, showing a red frame around your video tile. Please be patient as the teacher will verify you in a few moments.
Once you have been verified in the Class session, you can follow the numbers in the screenshot below.
- Turn on your mic if the host has allowed it
- Turn on your video.
- Use the chat function
- Raise your hand
- Leave the session
If the host opens Breakout Rooms while you are in the room, you will see a message allowing you to choose which one. Click on Join room when the next pop-up opens.
If the Breakout Rooms were opened before you joined, or you leave a Breakout Room and want to join a different one, you will find the Breakout rooms by clicking the 3 dots at the bottom of your screen and choosing Breakouts +. Join the room you want.
Once you are in a Breakout Room, you can see the 1) name of your Breakout Room at the top, and 2) leave the Breakout Room using the red arrow at the bottom right. Confirm your choice to leave the Breakout Room or the entire Class session.
If the host is screensharing, you may have a better experience turning your phone to a horizontal (landscape) view rather than a vertical (portrait) view. The View Options are not recommended for use on a mobile device.
When screensharing, you can toggle back and forth from the the screenshare to the Class video screen using the tabs numbered at the top.
When you are ready to leave the Class session, choose the red arrow in the bottom right corner and confirm that you are leaving. If you leave accidentally and the session is still going on, you may Join Again.
If the session has been ended, you will see this screen below and cannot rejoin.
