Customizing the Canvas Dashboard in the New View |
Canvas now offers the opportunity to customize the student Dashboard in the following ways.
No matter what option is chosen by the student, the button for Today's Live Classes remains at the top, and is still the method students use to see their daily schedule and attend all Classes.
At the top right of the Canvas Dashboard, click Switch to new dashboard view.
You will see your name at the top with two options below.
The button for Today's Live Classes will remain here whether you view the Dashboard or Courses. Under Courses, you can find your course cards. This article will focus on the Dashboard customization.
At the top right, choose Customize dashboard.
You may add and remove widgets here to create a dashboard view that works for you to stay organized in Canvas.
When you choose to Add widget, you will see variety of options to choose from.
- If the widget is already on your dashboard, it will read "Added"
- If the widget is not on your dashboard, you may click "+ Add"
All widgets can be moved around your dashboard by choosing the 8 dots at the top. If you wish to delete that widget, simply click the trash can icon. You can add it back at any time.
The rest of this article will focus on what each widget will show you and how to use it.
