*Important notes about screencast on the Chromebook*
- The video file must be uploaded into a Canvas assignment for the teacher to be able to view it. It cannot be sent via email as a link or shared in any other way.
- Using the Screencast app on a Chromebook automatically saves the video in the user's Google Drive, in a folder titled Screencast Recordings.
- Using the keystrokes to start a recording allows you to choose which folder to save it in your Google Drive.
You can begin your recording in two ways, using keystrokes or the Screencast app.
Using Keystrokes
Depending on your Chromebook model, use the three keys shown below: ctrl + shift + split screen key
Choose the camera icon to create a recording.
Click on the gear icon to turn your camera on or off as part of the recording and to make sure your microphone is the correct one. You can choose where to save the video. If you don't choose a specific folder, it will be saved to your downloads file. Click on the gear icon again after you have made your choices.
Choose to record your whole screen (left option) or partial screen (right option, in blue)
When you're ready to begin, click anywhere on the screen (your cursor will be a video icon now). A small countdown 3-2-1 (shown below) will happen in the middle of your screen. At the end of the countdown, the video begins.
