What time does school begin?
  • All students begin the school day at 8:00 AM.  Click on Today's Live Classes in Canvas to use the Join Class button for each Class session throughout the day.  
  • Make sure you wake up early enough to eat breakfast and get dressed.
  • You must be in front of the camera when classes begin.
What do I need for the first day of class?
  • A fully charged computer with the student GCA account logged in and synced in a Chrome browser, or logged in to a GCA-issued Chromebook. Remember that Chrome is the only acceptable browser for GCA.
  • Reliable and consistent access to high-speed internet
  • Younger students may need to print materials and sometimes use writing utensils.
What is the basic daily schedule for students?
  • As schedules are updated in Infinite Campus, have your student check Canvas daily, in the morning and again in the afternoon, attending any classes that begin to show up in Today's Live Classes. 
  • If there are no classes scheduled in Infinite Campus or Canvas, the student should read or work on educational material in other ways.
  • Communicate with your FEL if there is no schedule in Infinite Campus, and 3-4 days have passed since the first day of enrollment for the student, and the student has completed all the pre-admission exams required. 
Is there a lunch period?
  • Yes. The lunch period will vary by grade level. Check your schedule for specific times.
 When does the school day end?
  • For Primary (grades K-2) the last scheduled Class ends at 1:45 pm.
  • For Elementary (grades 3-5) the last scheduled Class ends at 2:10 pm. 
  • For Middle (grades 6-8) the last scheduled Class ends at 3:40 pm.
  • For Secondary (grades 9-12) the last scheduled Class ends at 3:35 pm. 
Do students have classes scheduled for every period of the day?
  • Not all students have a scheduled class for each period of the day. This allows some additional time if additional support is necessary.
  • Any student invited to attend support sessions must attend those additional sessions!
What happens during the first week of classes?
  • The teachers will communicate their expectations in each live class session. Be sure to attend every live class by using the Join Class button on the Today's Live Classes in Canvas.
  • Pay attention to the course announcements in Canvas and any messages or emails in Canvas to know the specific details of each day.
