Google Takeout for GCA Seniors |
Google Take-Out is a tool used to transfer data from one Google account to another. For students who would like access to files and work completed after graduating from GCA, it is a great idea to transfer your information to a personal Google Account.
Note: you will need to create a personal Google Account if you do not have one already.
Click on this link to initiate Google Take-Out
Step 1: Enter a destination account which will be your personal Google Account. It must be a Google account.
Then, choose Send Code
Step 2: Verify your destination account.
You will be prompted to check your personal Gmail account for the confirmation code.
Step 3: Open your personal Gmail account and open the Verify your account email. Click on Get confirmation code which opens in a new tab.
Step 4: A unique code will be generated. Copy the code (using Ctrl+c) and open the Google Take-Out page again.
Step 5: Paste the code (using Ctrl+v) on the Enter code line. Click on Verify to initiate the Transfer.
Step 6: Once you have clicked Verify, you’re ready for the Transfer. The transfer will be from your GCA Google account to your personal Google account. You’re allowed to transfer ONLY from your Google Drive & Google email. Make sure that the Drive and Gmail options are turned on for the transfer.
Step 7: You may be prompted to enter your GCA email password again before the transfer begins.
Step 8: A You're all Set Confirmation will display and you can navigate to your personal email to confirm. Note: This make take few minutes to load.
HOW DO I SEE THE FILES THAT WERE TRANSFERRED?
While logged into your Personal Gmail Account, navigate to the top right corner and choose the 9 dots, or the "waffle." Find the icon for Drive.
Google Drive opens and under My Drive, you can toggle it open to see the folder created for your GCA Account. When you open that folder, you should be able to see all of your transferred files.
