Entering SchoolSpace from a Canvas Course |
If you have been invited to join a SchoolSpace event in a Canvas course, use these instructions to enter. Watch the video by clicking on the image below or follow the instructions in the screenshots that follow.
On the left side of the course, choose the SchoolSpace option.
When the event is live, you can choose the Join button on the far right.
SchoolSpace will open in a new tab of your browser. Before you enter SchoolSpace, you may 1) customize your avatar, or 2) change your avatar.
If you change your avatar, you may 1) choose a preset avatar, 2) the color of the avatar, and 3) save changes.
Click GO to enter the world.
If you chose the custom avatar, you may customize it only inside the world. Click the image of a person in the left sidebar.
1) Choose the background of your choice, then 2) choose from the options at the top for customizing your avatar. Save your avatar.
To exit the custom options, choose the back arrow in the upper right.
Inside SchoolSpace you can...
Turn on and off your microphone
Raise your hand
Chat with another student (if the teacher has allowed it)
Turn captions on and off for your teacher's talking
Share your screen, when asked to do so
Walk around SchoolSpace with your cursor moving the avatar. Your cursor shows as footprints and when you click anywhere, your avatar will go there.
Teleport directly to other users. Click the Users icon on the far right, choose Current Users, then use the button shown under a user's name to teleport yourself to them.
When done, leave the world by choosing your Account, scrolling down and selecting Leave World.
