Frequently asked questions and tips for Asynchronous Days at GCA.
1. What is an Asynchronous day?
- An Asynchronous day means that no live Class sessions are being held but it is still a school day and attendance is required by logging in to Canvas.
- Asynchronous days are still considered full school days and you will be expected to complete school work and assignments.
- Attendance will not need to be logged in Nucleus.
2. What should I be doing on an Asynchronous day?
- Primary Grades (K-2)
- Go to each Course in Canvas, click on Modules and view the assignment that your teacher has given you to complete on this day.
- The assignment will be called Async Day: Independent Student Workday. Tip! Use the ctrl F function to find this assignment easily in your Modules.
- Elementary Grades (3-5)
- Check your Canvas Calendar to find one event in your Homeroom course.
- Click on the event from the calendar and follow the instructions listed on the event.
- Middle Grades (6-8)
- Check your Canvas Inbox. Each teacher will send you a message directing you to the module in their course that you need to complete that day.
- Secondary Grades (9-12)
- Check your Canvas Inbox. Each teacher will send you a message directing you to the module in their course that you need to complete that day.
- The assignment will be titled Async Day Subject Name Date in your Modules. See one example below.
3. If I don't have live Classes, how will my attendance be recorded?
- You must log in to Canvas for your attendance to be recorded on this day.
